Alto del Sifón, located in Parque Nacional Natural Los Nevados, is one
of the most demanding climbs in the country, reaching 4,149 meters
above sea level. Classified as hors catégorie (HC), it combines great
length, extreme altitude, and a true high-performance challenge. It is
the highest place in Colombia where you can ride your bike.
The route begins in Líbano (1,500 m) and takes riders through a
dramatic transition of landscapes—from mild mountain climates to
the Andean páramo, surrounded by frailejones and high-altitude
conditions.
A challenge designed for experienced cyclists ready to push their
limits. We support you every step of the way with assistance,
hydration, and nutrition, helping you safely reach the highest rideable
summit in Colombia.
It’s important to know there will be some climate variations. At the beginning in Mariquita (500m above sea level) we might have an average temperature of 25° C, and at the top of Alto de letras (3667m above sea level), the temperature may vary between 5° C and 10° C, so make sure to take the proper clothing for this challenge.
We will assist you with coaching you through the climb and providing the right nutrition to help you get there. This challenge includes the transfer from Pereira/Rionegro to Mariquita in a private plane.
